The Diet: Week 1

While speaking with Colin yesterday about my on-and-off commitment to weight loss and how I’m not making the progress I’d like, he mentioned something he did called, “The Diet.” He’d blog every week or two about his progress. I’d like to start that up today. Below is my current weight and goal. My incentive? I’m getting married. Here goes nothing!

Current Weight: 241 lbs

Goal: 170 lbs

That’s 71 pounds I need to lose. Let’s give it a year.

    Delivery Tracking and Managing Expectations

I love getting stuff in the mail. I always have. And with the pandemic, I (probably like you) have ordered way more online that usual. With all of the packages I’m getting, I use a fantastic app called Deliveries, which allows me to track packages easily. This app is invaluable to me. However, with having…

Sass, Sublime Text, Github, and Changing my Development Workflow

When I left the full time freelancing world 2.5ish years ago, I had a very specific way I did things and I enjoyed it; however, admittedly, it wasn’t the best. I was using Coda, not making local copies, not using any form of version control, and my frameworks were becoming stale. I’ve been going to…

CaboPress: The Business Conference I Needed

When you tell people that you’re going to Cabo San Lucas for a business conference, you get some funny looks. Well, you get one specific look: “Oh sure. I bet you’ll do a ton of work there.” It’s easy to think. I mean, we are in paradise. Our sessions were in pools. We had afternoons…

  1. I’m wanting to do the same, for the same reason 🙂 I’m also getting married likely early 2015 and would like to lose about 25 lbs. I’m not going to post what I am now and where I would like to be though 😉 I started yesterday being more aggressive with exercise and eating right.

I wish you all the best of luck 🙂 It’s tough to do. I’ve been trying to lose weight for four years now, and I keep gaining it.

  2. Very realistic goals. I lost a similar amount in a year, so you can definitely do it! And holding yourself accountable like this is a perfect way to start keeping yourself in check. For me I started by cutting back my intake walking everywhere, and especially lake Scranton.

Now I started in the summer, so my 2 laps a day would probably not be realistic for you (especially at this time of year) but there’s definitely options.

Just keep at it, baby steps add up in collective magnitude, but also grow separately as well until they achieve a full stride.
